DREAMers Are Not Bargaining Chips

January 11, 2018

I was glad to hear that my friend found out this week that he was renewed under DACA.  On Wednesday, he expressed gratitude to me for personally helping him in this matter. For now, at least, he is good for two years until he must re-apply.

Although I was glad to hear the good news, my friend, like so many others, deserves better than apprehension every two years for an extension.

People throughout the centuries moved to the United States seeking a better life for themselves and their families.  They sought opportunities and freedom.  Yet, policies that violate a person’s right to remain in their community damage that sense of freedom we all cherish.  That is why our movement unequivocally believes that we must protect DREAMers and create a fair pathway to citizenship for all who call America home.

If you share the aspiration to build a country where liberty and justice is truly for all.  If you resist politicians trying to win votes by pitting neighbor against neighbor.  If you believe we deserve elected leaders who choose hope over fear.  Then, support our efforts. DONATE TODAY!

Trump uses DREAMers as a bargaining chip to get $18 billion for an unpopular border wall.  If we were in Congress right now, we would lead a coalition in Congress of those who withhold votes on a government funding bill until our fellow American DREAMers are fully protected.

We need your help to get there.
