The opioid epidemic wasn't caused by patients that became addicted, and minimally by doctors who over prescribed them. It was caused by the predatory and astronomical greed of the pharmaceutical companies who, like the tobacco, health insurance, and fossil fuel industries, value their bloated and immoral profits over the lives of the people in our community.

If a small time heroin dealer can go to jail for the rest of his life for making a couple hundred bucks, what should we do about the people who make enough money off of opioids to own a private jet?

Every 4 generations, society must be rebuilt. WE are the fourth generation since the last rebuild. What kind of society do we want to create? Top-down authoritarian rule based on fear, hate, and greed? Or bottom-up democracy fueled by justice, hope, and love? ...

Our climate isn't just changing, it's in crisis.

We need the kind of public investment and mobilization greater than seen during World War II to radically shift to 100% renewable energy.

The fossil fuel industry's propaganda peddled to us by their puppet politicians have convinced people on both the left and right that global warming, or more innocuosly "climate change," is not as serious a concern as we should be treating it.

It's easy for us to place blame on particular people like Trump, Lance, or Scott Pruitt. Undoubtedly, they have worsen the problem, but the climate crisis far outdated them. Our efforts to date have been meager, as they are designed to maintain a corrupt economic and political system.

We have the human, intellectual and financial capital to make a difference starting today. In 2018, let's elect those who have the bold vision of transitioning to 100% renewable energy.

The fate of all life on our planet is in our hands. #EarthDay

We are grateful to Dr. William Thar and Richard Master, those who joined us in person and live on Facebook for NJ's first every Town Hall on Medicare For All Single-Payer Healthcare!

Single-payer is the economic/business-friendly and moral solution to our healthcare crisis here in America where nearly 30 million remain uninsured and several tens of millions more are under-insured, paying ridiculous amounts in premiums, co-pays, and deductibles. This is not a partisan issue, this is a healthcare issue.

We cannot imagine why a candidate or any one currently holding public office would oppose single-payer. As the establishment narrative goes, Medicare For All has been marked a "purity test." The way we see it, it's actually an integrity test. Do you value the lives of people over the profits of 'health' insurance conglomerates and pharma execs? Let's join the many other nations throughout the world and provide healthcare as a right.

If you missed our town hall, check it out on the post below.

Jesus, the Revolutionary.

Photo from Philadelphia Church of God

I come from an Indian Orthodox Christian family.  A church and community that traces it’s heritage back to the disciple, St. Thomas, who arrived in India in 52 A.D.  I’ve spent years as an altar assistant, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School student, and then, teacher.  Though I was brought up to see Jesus from a theological perspective, I’ve grown to learn about the socio-cultural-historical context in which he lived.  I never had a WWJD wristband but tried to live every day with those words etched in my mind.  I wasn’t spiritually moved by the songs or rituals in church, but rather, by the man who stood up for those higher principles of peace and justice for all.

If Jesus lived today, we’d persecute him again.

Peter Jacob on The Young Turks!

We have a serious problem in America: corrupt money in politics. Your government does not care what you think. Let’s change that.

Together, we can stop political bribery, fix and heal our broken democracy, and restore our voices in local committees, statehouses, and Congress.
